TURTLENECKS

If you know me, you know I’ve had a very stressed relationship with turtlenecks. After hating them as a kid and being forced into one anytime we got the slightest chill in Florida, I lived a VERY anti-turtleneck agenda until about two years ago. It gets much nippier in NY than FL so neck protection is actually warranted and I kept seeing so many of my fashion faves make them look chic af, I finally cracked. This week I’ll be highlighting my fave ways to style turtlenecks that make them less meh and more ooohlala.

OK, now this is a LEWK. My favorite part about colder weather is getting to play around with layering so this pairing is a dream. Alone, they’re just two simple closet staples but together they immediately give chic boss lady vibes. With the turtleneck underneath, leave at least the first three or four buttons of the button-down undone and wear both tucked into straight/wide leg trousers or a skirt. With pants, pair with block-heel booties and with a skirt, grab your fave pair of knee-high boots.

If you didn’t get enough neon or bright colors this summer, this is by far the chicest way to carry the trend into fall/winter. In addition to being cozy, it helps you avoid that all-black winter aesthetic we often fall prey to. You can go monochromatic, pop it under a suit or with your fave pair of trousers.

Styling turtlenecks can be a bit trickier with men, but one no-fail way is to it pair with a well-tailored suit. It’s a sleek update to the usual button-down and is guaranteed to elicit GQ vibes.

By far my fave version of a turtleneck is a mock neck (like a turtle but without the extra fabric to fold over.) It’s just as chic but feels more easy breezy. Wear under your fave slip dress from summer to transition the piece into all seasons 🍂 #ootd
