TOOT IT & BOOT IT
The silver lining to this whole winter thing is that we can finally switch up our shoe rotation and whip out those boots. Now, that the holidays are over, it’s the perfect time to see if the pair you’ve been eyeing are finally on sale. If you need a little inspo, I’ve rounded up my fave boot trends of the season.
If you’re anything like me, wearing white is always the riskiest of moves. Just the thought triggers the Virgo in me and all I can think about are the spills, stains, and any irreversible damage that could happen. However, after skipping out on a pair of dreamy white booties last year, I’m finally ready to risk it all in this not-so-clean city. Something about a white boot immediately makes your look more chic and polished and bonus perk: it matches with everything! My fave ways to style are with co-ordinated separates, an oversized blazer and jeans, or a mixed print look.
If you’ve been following along, you know I’ve been loving the animal print/skin trend for the past year so it’s no surprise I adore snakeskin boots! You can use them as a statement piece to add some pop to a monochromatic look or as an accent to an outfit that’s already full of prints. For a more classic feel, opt for grey, brown, or tan snakeskin or go big with a colored pair in your favorite non-neutral color. A lot of snakeskin boots come with a solid colored heel, but I personally love an all-over snakeskin to get more looks off.
Last but certainly not least, we’ve got Doc Martens, a tried and true classic that’s never fully gone out of style. Though Docs are the most casual of the options, they’re still super dynamic when it comes to styling. You can lean into the rugged, edgy aesthetic and wear with leather, utility wear or ripped denim or you can pair with the most feminine pieces in your wardrobe (i.e. slip skirts, ruffled midi dresses.) When wearing with denim, go with straight-leg jeans (cuffed or uncuffed) or a cropped slim-leg that ends right above the top of the Docs. My classic pick is, of course, the original 1460 Doc Martens in black, but for a little extra sauce, I love the Jadon Arcadia in cherry red.
