SHORTS FOR WORK
While we usually think of shorts as more play than work, the recent influx of short suits inspired me to figure out ways to turn shorts into a summer office staple. Skirts and dresses are cute but sometimes we’re just not in the mood and we deserve options! This week, I’ll be highlighting some office-appropriate short lewks that’ll work no matter how corporate or creative your field.
Short suits are by far the easiest way to incorporate shorts into your workwear rotation. For summer, I love a menswear-inspired pattern or pastels. Since the blazer and shorts already match, all you have to do is add a top (a plain white tee, a collared button-down or a silky cami are all no-fail options for this look!) In terms of fit, you want to choose shorts that are more relaxed/non-fitted and hit at least mid-thigh. For my corporate folks, finish the look with pumps or loafers and if your work place is more lax, throw on a pair of crisp, white lowtop kicks.

Though I usually prefer a tucked in shirt with longer shorts, there are some untucked alternatives that are just as fab. You can either go with a boxy crop that hits right below the waistband of the short or a longer option like this orange Rachel Comey blouse that has some shape to it. Since this top comes in at the waist, you don’t lose your figure in the look and it’s still short enough to not overshadow the shorts. For shoes, I love this pointed toe pump…I’m short so I will take any hack that will make my legs look longer and I go UP for any strappy detail!
These are a few of my fave style takes on an office-appropriate work short that lean more casual. Throwing on a boyfriend blazer is an easy hack to elevate a casual look and make it look more profesh. Play around with contrasting silhouettes and accessories to switch up the vibe for every wear!

A relaxed fit white linen button-up is the perfect accessory to any long short, whether tailored or drapey like this pair from Tibi. Wear this top with a couple buttons undone and a front tuck for an easy, breezy feel. Add a pop of color to the look with your shoes or bag.
